We are often asked how best to control anger within a relationship, because anger can be so damaging. We highly recommend a book by Thubten Chodron entitled Working With Anger which contains some excellent advice and is easily put into practice. The book is written in a clear and easily understood style.
Something else that clients often ask us, is where to find a good book on 'proper' magick and the occult. If you don't know where to look it can be difficult to find something accurate. After all these years, Tanith still recommends Magic An Occult Primer by David Conway as a great starting point. There is a review by a customer of Amazon who says: "read this book if you are a healthy sceptic who seeks real down to earth proof of the existence of magic. Life changing!" We couldn't agree more.
Diana Cooper's A Little Light On Spiritual Laws is also a good little starter-book about the Universal laws that govern us. Written in an easily understood style, this covers more than just the law of attraction - it covers all the Universal laws.
Here's a wonderful little book that somebody has sent through to me. It is called It's The Thought That Counts by David R Hamilton PhD. Subtitled "astounding evidence for the power of mind over matter" [which is of course exactly what spell work is based on, albeit in a much more powerful form than just positive thought]. When pharmaceutical scientist Dr David Hamilton observed the results of tests on new drugs he noticed that patients receiving the control placebo pills reported the same level of improvement as people receiving the actual drug. Seeing this result repeat itself time and time again, he became fascinated by the mind-body connection and started to research the work of scientists, mystics and healers. This book is the result of those investigations.
Anam Cara, Spiritual Wisdom From the Celtic World by John O'Donoghue is a wonderful book. John passed over in January 2008, and was a wonderful philosopher and poet. Anam Cara is a Celtic expression which means "soul friend", meaning a friendship that is not limited by separation or distance. Such a friendship can remain alive even when the people concerned are far away from each other in miles. When the soul is awakened, physical space is transfigured, and even across distance two people can stay attuned to each other and continue to sense the flow of each other's lives. With your anam cara you awaken the eternal inside of yourself. In my love spell castings, I often say to clients that they are "soul mates" or "soul friends" and this book goes further into that idea. The author uses the Celtic vision of life as a means to examine the landscape of the soul. John O'Donoghue re-examines the contemporary perception of spirituality and argues that instead of seeking to satisfy our spiritual hunger on an everlasting journey of exploration that will uncover every riddle, every mystery, we should instead seek to gain an understanding that the soul lies within us always. It is ever present and ever ready to dispense peace and wisdom to enhance our life experience. Using the ancient Celtic reverence for the spirit of all things and the celebration of the continuous mysteries of everyday existence which survive to this day, O'Donoghue traces the cycle of life and nature, shares secrets from a world where the Fates are not feared, blending philosophy, instruction, and spiritual insight.
